The Masterclass is an intensive course of instruction in everything to do with Scotch malt whisky: for amateurs a one-day course; for professionals, a two-day. At the end of the Masterclass you should have a pretty good grasp of the subject - and if you haven't, we'll think its our fault, for we are professionals. If at the end of the class you know your stuff, you will get a certificate to attest the fact. Click here to see details of what the Masterclass contains. We provide personal tuition and hands-on experience, so the Malt Masterclass has a high ratio of staff to students and is for small numbers. We reckon about twelve students to two of us, though the classes can work for up to sixteen. We can deliver the Masterclasses almost anywhere in the world. We bring to you everything you will need for the full Malt Masterclass. The Malt Masterclass has two further components. The Introduction to the Masterclass is less formal and demanding than the full Masterclass, to which it is a useful preliminary. The Introduction is an illustrated lecture and malt whisky tasting. The lecture lasts for about an hour and we will generally taste about five whiskies. This works well for larger numbers. At the other end of the spectrum, for those who wish to extend their knowledge of Malt Masterclass subjects, we offer residential classes in Scotland, in which formal instruction is combined with visits to Scotch whisky distilleries, maltings, bottling plants, peat bogs, etc. |
